First Week at UT

Before classes

Finally I arrived at UT Austin! Before having a class, I paricipated in Roundups, City tour and Campus tour. I could hear about ELP classes briefly. After the Roundups, I was going to make an ID card. If you make a ID card, you can take a metro for free.

As I participated in the city tour and Campus tour, It was a good chance to know about Austin and UT. Moreover I made a new friend! I was not good at speaking English but I tried hard to communicate with her. We talked about each country, food, language and so on. It was a really precious experience to me.

And also, I knew locations of classrooms, library, cafteria and so on.

The first day of class

My first class at UT was writing class. If I had not particiaped in the campus tour, I would be lost. Until now, It’s really hard to find my class lol. I was very nervous because it was a first class, but I finished the class all right.

After morning classes, I went to eat the lunch. There are so many cafeterias that I thought a lot what to eat. Finally I chose Korean foods. Those foods are called "Sundubu-jjigae" and "Bulgogi-deopbap". Sundubu-jjigae is a kind of spicy soup with soft tofu. There are also many kinds of vegetabels in the soup. "Bulgogi-deopbap" is a rice with pork seasoned with sauce called Bulgogi. In Korea, this sauce is light so men and women of all ages enjoy it.

And I also visited the Co-op for buying textbooks. There were many kinds of goods with symbol of UT; notebooks, bags, clothes and so on. Going downstairs, I found a section selling textbooks. I was really surprised to see the price of textbook. I can't believe it. It was too expensive to buy. On the spot, I quickly turned on Amazon app and started comparing prices.

As expected, it was much cheeper than the book sold in the Co-op. So I decided to get a book on Amazon and quickly went out of the Co-op.
If anyone knows how to buy books cheaply except buying on the Amazon, then please tell me:)

  1. Love your picture taken at the fountain. And I love your blog because I have the same experience as yours. I completely understand the feeling of having to search for classes that aren't close to each other at all. And I don't know if you've tried American food yet, but I'd love to know your experience of food in Austin. Also, have you tried any cafes yet? Since sadly I didn't take a bus tour around Texas and UT, so could you please share with me more about it?
